Music inspires artist; MixHaus reception April

CELEBRATING THE ARTS

11

Lleanna Brinsmade is a Boerne-based, self-trained portraiture artist who paints in pastels, with a special passion for capturing musicians that she has experienced live in intimate settings.

Another of her passions is exploring a variety of skin tones in her artworks.

Her piece, “Anthony Garcia: Portrait of an Extraordinary Texas Musician,” pastel, is on display at Frost Bank in Boerne for the entire month of April, courtesy of the Boerne Art League, and is available to purchase.

The piece was inspired by a memorable local private home concert featuring Garcia, a very gifted songwriter and virtuoso on guitar and keyboard.

A selection of her artwork can be viewed at the following Boerne Main Street banks: Frost Bank, Jefferson Bank, Liberty Capital Bank (formerly Texas Heritage Bank), Security Bank, Bank America and The Center at Kronkosky until the end of April.

• MixHaus Gallery presents “Songs of the Ocotillo,” a poetic and visual tribute to the resilience and beauty of the Chihuahuan Desert.

MixHaus Gallery hosts this collaborative exhibition by Comfort, Texas poet, Lucy Griffith, and Marfa-based mixed media artist, Darlene Marwitz, on view April 10-May 24. An opening reception will be held from 2-6 p.m. Saturday, April 11, with an artist talk and poetry reading at 4 pm.

This evocative exhibition blends poetry and visual art in a shared homage to the iconic Ocotillo plant and the stark, enduring beauty of the southern borderlands. For details, email to [email protected], or call 830-995-3750. MixHaus is located at 716 High St. In Comfort.
