All four Kendall Country UIL and TAPPS baseball teams made the playoffs and open their postseasons this week.
Geneva School of Boerne played a one-gamer on Tuesday, while Champion and Boerne High were in series this week. Comfort faces Merkel and was working on the details after they won Monday’s tiebreaker game over Blanco in Fredericksburg to determine seeding.
Geneva School of Boerne
The Eagles played a onegamer with First Baptist Christian – Pasadena Tuesday in Fayetteville.
Geneva finished second in their district at 7-3. They tied with Schertz John Paul II but the Eagles owned the tiebreaker.
Holy Cross won the district after they went 10-0.
Comfort High
Comfort won a share of the district title and then won a tiebreaker game Monday to take the No. 1 seed in their district and get to avoid No. 4 state-ranked Wall in the first round.
The Bobcats open the playoffs with Merkel, a team that went 7-5 in district and finished fourth.
Boerne High
The Greyhounds finished strong in district play and won their final four games to clinch a playoff spot. Boerne will play in the 5A-DII bracket and faces Cedar Park in the opening round in a three-game series.
The Timberwolves went 9-5 in District 25-5A for fourth place, while the Greyhounds were 11-5 and finished third in District 26-5A.
Boerne Champion
The Chargers wrapped up this year’s district title with a win over Kerrville Tivy last Friday and play Buda Hays in a series starting Thursday at Champion in the 5A-DI bracket.
Hays came in second in 25-5A at 11-3 behind firstplace Rouse (13-1).
It’s the third straight district crown for Champion, they shared it last year with Smithson Valley, but have won the other two outright.
The Chargers went 13-3 in district to win the district title this year. District titles are nice, but Champion’s deepest playoff appearance so far came in 2023 when they were third in district but advanced all the way to the state semifinals for their only state tournament appearance in school history.
