Geneva track and field athletes compete at district, some advance to regionals

Geneva School of Boerne was entered in its district track and field meet and had several athletes advance to the regional round at Antonian.

In the final team standings at district, the Geneva boys were fifth with 77 points and the Geneva girls tallied 55.50 points for sixth. The top eight finishers scored team points and the top four finishers moved on to regionals.

The following Geneva athletes advanced to regionals in the following events: Peyton Eiland in the 1600 and 3200, Walter Teague in the high jump, Brady Chandler in the pole vault, 100 and long jump, Ruby Svendsen in the high jump and 100 hurdles, Maebry Caulfield in the triple jump and 200, Tripp Martin in the discus, Gracyn Miller in the shot put and Mikhail Boespflug in the discus, while Shae McNew, Harris Priesmeyer, Caleb Quitadamo and Chandler advanced in the 4x100.

Varsity Boys

Brady Chandler recorded three first-place finishes after he won the 100 dash after clocking in at 11.34. Chandler also took first in the long jump with a leap of 21-0 and topped the field in the pole vault with a vault of 14-6.

Tripp Martin placed first in the discus with a toss of 136-0 for a personal record and Mikhail Boespflug was third in the event with a throw of 130-6.

Walter Teague came in second in the high jump after clearing 5-8, while Geneva went 5-6-7 in the shot put after Shae McNew finished fifth at 37-2 to set a personal record, Boespflug placed sixth at 36-7 and Martin was seventh at 36-3.5.

McNew finished fifth in the 400 with a 52.68 to land third all-time in the school record books, while the 4x100 relay consisting of McNew, Harris Priesmeyer, Caleb Quitadamo and Chandler advanced in the 4x100 after they were fourth with a time of 44.79 and have the second fastest time in school history in the event.

Varsity Girls

Peyton Eiland finished third in the 3200 in 12:44 and placed third in the 1600 after running a 5:53 and setting a personal record in the 1600.

Madilyn Detterick finished fifth in the 800 after posting a 2:38 and was ninth in the 400 in 1:07 to set personal records in both events, Ruby Svendsen posted a 17.74 in the 100 hurdles for fourth, Maebry Caufield came in sixth in the 100 with a 13.74 and was fourth in the 200 with a time of 28.38 and set personal records in the 100 and 200.

Gracyn Miller threw the discus 77-1 for seventh and came in second in the shot put with a toss of 29-4.50, while teammate Carolyn Lutz finished seventh at 26-4.5.

Ruby Svendsen tied for third in the high jump by clearing 4-10, Caufield was third in the triple jump with a distance of 32-7 and Caufield finished sixth in the long jump with a leap of 14-7 to set a personal record in both jumping events.
