DAR chapter celebrates seniors, bestows scholarships

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution’s George W. Kendall Chapter recognized four Kendall County high school seniors as DAR Good Citizens during its spring chapter meeting.

The DAR Good Citizen Award honors students who demonstrate dependability, service, leadership and patriotism in their homes, schools and communities.

Each recipient is selected by their school for exemplifying those qualities.

Award winners receive a certificate, pin and wallet identification card.

In addition to the recognition, each student received a scholarship from the George W. Kendall Chapter.

Mary Elizabeth Simpson of Geneva School of Boerne earned the firstplace scholarship, which includes the George W. Kendall Community Service Award, totaling $1,500.

Kaydence Marie Stehling of Comfort High School, Robert Ethan Conrad of Samuel V. Champion High School and Sydney Lane Smith of Boerne High School each received scholarships in the amount of $1,250.

Chapter members said the students exemplify the highest standards of citizenship and reflect the strength of the community’s future.

The DAR is a service organization with genealogically based membership dedicated to patriotism, education and historic preservation.
