Boerne ISD had 12 girls soccer players – 7 from Boerne High and 5 from Champion – named to the all-district soccer teams as voted upon by the 26-5A coaches.
One of the athletes earned a superlative award after Boerne High junior goalie Gretchen Nash was voted the Goalkeeper of the Year, while junior Bella Pettet was a firstteam selection for the Lady Greyhounds.
Also for BHS, senior Sadie Parker and senior Mahaley Merkens were both named to the second team, while senior Catherine Hiner, senior Molly Miller and junior Sophia Namvar landed on the honorable mention squad.
For the Chargers, Lily Alejo was a firstteam selection and junior Macy O’Dell was named to the second team, while senior Jayme Harrell, junior Daylynn Carpenter and sophomore Maggie Hall were voted to the honorable mention team.
The two Boerne ISD teams were in the running for a playoff spot late in the regular season but didn’t advance after Boerne High finished 8-5-2 (12-7-3 overall) in 26-5A for fifth, while the Chargers were 8-7-1 in district (12-7-1) and placed sixth.
Only the top four teams advance to the postseason, and BHS tied Alamo Heights at 8-5-2, but the Mules advanced on a tiebreaker as the fourth-place team.
