Geneva boys earn gold, silver and bronze at state track and field meet

Geneva School of Boerne earned three state medals at the TAPPS 4A state track and field meet held May 8-9 near Waco.

Brady Chandler led the Eagles with two state medals after he picked up gold and bronze, while Walter Teague earned silver at state.

The top eight TAPPS athletes earn points in track and field.

Varsity Boys

Chandler won the state championship in the pole vault after he cleared 15-0 for 10 points and Chandler also came in third in the long jump with a leap of 21.01.50 for six more points and a bronze medal.

Teague finished second in the high jump after clearing 6-0 for eight more team points.

Chandler earned more team points after placing fourth in the 100 with a time of 11.18 for five points and Mikhail Boespflug came in seventh in the discus throw with a toss of 127-05 for two points to round out the team scoring.

Chandler wrapped up a remarkable high school career and has the highest jump by a high school pole vaulter in Kendall Country after clearing 16-0.25 and holds several venue records around the area.

The Eagles tied for10th in the final team standings with Pantego Christian after both tallied 31 points, while Lubbock Christian won the 4A boys title with 96 points.

Varsity Girls

The Geneva girls scored 10 points to finish 24th in the final team standings, while district foe New Braunfels Christian won the 4A girls title with 92.5 points.

Peyton Eiland finished fifth in the 3200 with a 12:36.27 for four points and Eiland placed seventh in the 1600 after posting a 5:53.49 for two more points.

Ruby Svendsen came in sixth in the high jump after clearing 4-8 for 3 points and Svendsen recorded a 17.84 for eighth in the 100 hurdles and earned a team point.
