Four Boerne ISD elementaries earn student leadership award

BOERNE — Boerne Independent School District is proud to announce that four of it elementary school student leadership teams have been selected as recipients of the prestigious 2025-2026 Student Leadership Awards, presented by the Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association (TEPSA).

Out of hundreds of applications across Texas, only 167 PK-8 student leadership teams statewide were selected for this honor. Boerne ISD achieved exceptional representation with four dedicated campuses receiving the award: Cibolo Creek Elementary, Curington Elementary, Fabra Elementary and Herff Elementary.

The award recognizes student groups for dedicated service, leadership and citizenship. The four student teams spearheaded impactful initiatives including literacy programs, kindness campaigns, student mentoring, and community service projects for local families and veterans.

“Texas public schools play a crucial role in shaping the leaders of tomorrow. These students are not only active participants but also trailblazers for positive change in their schools and communities,” TEPSA Executive Director Harley Eckhart said. “We take pride in acknowledging their efforts to build a brighter future for communities throughout our state.”

The outstanding achievements of these young leaders will be celebrated at TEPSA’s Student Leadership Workshops this fall. Since 1999, these workshops have trained more than 40,000 Texas students, equipping them with the tools and leadership skills needed to design community- engaging projects.

Boerne ISD is a toprated public school district and one of only 31 in Texas to achieve 6 straight A-ratings from the Texas Education Agency. Serving over 11,180 students across Kendall, Comal, and Bexar counties, the district is committed to academic excellence, innovative programs, and empowering students to reach their full potential.
