Two former Greyhounds play in NCAA softball regional playoffs

Two former Greyhounds – Brooke Sivek and Ava Renteria - had the chance to compete in the 2026 NCAA Division I Softball Regional Playoffs last weekend.

Sivek plays with the Akron Zips and Renteria competes for the Texas State Bobcats.

Sivek is a 2022 Boerne High graduate and helped the Zips win the Mid-American Conference regular season championship and the MAC tournament for an automatic bid to the regional tournament in her senior season.

Akron traveled to the Baton Rouse regional hosted by LSU that included the Tigers, Virginia Tech and South Alabama, where Sivek recorded her 200th career hit. The Zip lost to LSU, beat South Alabama and then were knocked out by Virginia Tech.

Renteria is a 2025 Boerne High graduate and helped the Bobcats finish runner up in the Sun Belt championship tournament to earn a bid to the regional playoffs. Texas State played in the Gainesville regional that included Florida, Georgia Tech and Florida A&M. Texas State lost by a run to Georgia Tech, beat Florida A&M and was knocked out by Georgia Tech in a rematch.

2022 Greyhound graduate Brooke Sivek just wrapped up her college softball career by playing in the NCAA Division I Softball Regionals with the Akron Zips where Sivek recorded her 200th career hit.
