The Boerne Little League team is one round away from playing at the Little League World Series after they won the Texas West State championship tournament last weekend in Abilene.
Boerne advances to the Southwest Regional Tournament, set to begin Aug., 6, in Waco.
After dropping its second- round game at state, Boerne had to win the next one to avoid elimination. Boerne did and then had to beat Lubbock Western twice last Saturday and was up for the task.
Boerne won the first game against Lubbock 6-4 and then had to play them again for the title and closed it out with a 3-0 win.
This is the second time in the last three years that Boerne Little League has advanced to the Southwest Regional Tournament. In 2024, Boerne won that event and played in the Little League World Series where advanced to the championship game and finished second nationally and fourth internationally.
