For the second time in three seasons, a baseball team representing Boerne Little League has won the Texas West State championship and is one round away from playing at the Little League World Series.
Boerne advances to the Southwest Regional Tournament scheduled Aug. 6 – 11, in Waco.
The team from Boerne had to come up through the loser’s bracket at the Texas West tourney, but they were ready for the challenge in the fourteam, double elimination event.
Boerne opened with a 13-12 win over Oil Belt but dropped the next game to Lubbock Western, 9-7. That put Boerne in an elimination game against Oil Belt and they rolled to a 13-2 win.
Boerne advanced to the championship series, but they had to beat undefeated Lubbock Western twice – and they did, posting a 4-1 record at the event.
Boerne took the first game against the Lubbock team on Saturday morning, 6-4, and then closed it out with another tough win later that day, 3-0, to punch its ticket to the region round.
Because of the size of the state, Texas is split in half and has two champs, West and East. Boerne, the West champ, opens play at the Southwest Region tourney against Texas East (from Lamar) on Thursday, Aug. 6, at 10 a.m. The game is scheduled to be carried live on ESPN+.
Oklahoma has a bye and faces the winner of the Texas West vs Texas East game on Friday, Aug. 7, at 10 a.m., also on ESPN+.
There are seven teams at the tourney and Oklahoma is the only team with a bye. Besides Oklahoma and the two Texas teams, Louisiana, Arkansas, New Mexico and Mississippi are at the tourney. The winner of the event heads to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
This is the second time in the last three years that Boerne Little League has advanced to the Southwest Regional Tournament. In 2024, Boerne won that event and played in the Little League World Series where advanced to the championship game and finished second nationally and fourth internationally.
Boerne Little League All-Stars for 2026 are Anders Paulson, Boone Blalock, Carson Patrick, Case Greco, Chandler Schramek, Lawson Belden, Lyle Fischer, Kase Yarbrough, Kasen Martinez, Merritt Cude, Preston Baird and Walker Yost. Greg Yost is the manager, while Rusty Belden and Josh Cude serve as coaches.
