Boerne Champion was entered in the Texas Cup water polo tournament in Lewisville last weekend, while the Charger squads also challenged Harlan in a non-district match Tuesday in Boerne.
Against Harlan, the girls edged the Hawks, 7-6, while the boys hammered the Hawks, 17-11. The boys are 10-3 overall and the girls are 6-7 overall.
Champion opened district play Friday against Boerne at the new BISD Aquatics Center. They played Brandeis on Saturday at Northside to continue league play.
At the tourney, the Champion boys finished with a 5-1 record and the Lady Chargers went 2-4 at the event.
At the Lewisville tourney, the boys beat Houston Stratford, 14-7, defeated Hebron, 17-14, smoked Denton Guyer, 21-4, dropped Flour Mound, 16-11, and handled Hebron, 17-11, with their only loss coming to Dallas Jesuit by one point, 12-11.
On the girls side at the tourney, the Lady Chargers picked up wins against Stratford, 7-2, and also beat Guyer 7.3 to 7.1 in a shootout.
Champion lost to Hebron, 15-4, fell to Southlake Carroll, 13-9, was foiled by Foster 13-8, and defeated by Westlake, 12-9.
