Both the Boerne Champion varsity water polo teams kicked off district play last weekend with a pair of matches. The Chargers hosted Boerne High at the new BISD Aquatics Center and then played Brandeis on Saturday at Northside Natatorium.
It was a sweep for the Champion boys after they defeated the Greyhounds and the Broncos. The Chargers beat Boerne 20-4 and corralled the Broncos, 23-7.
Champion is 12-3 overall and starts district at 2-0. On the girls side, the Lady Chargers defeated Boerne High, 19-10, and also beat Brandeis in a low-scoring match, 8-4, to stand at 8-7 overall and 2-0 in district.
The Chargers were back at it Saturday as they continued district play against Clark and Marshall at Northside Natatorium.
