Charger running teams finish

1-2

at Westlake meet

Boerne Champion went 1-2 at the Westlake Chaparral Invitational cross country meet in Del Valle last weekend. The Boerne Champion boys ran to a first-place finish, while the Lady Chargers were second.

Champion is scheduled to run at the Buda Hays meet this weekend at the Five Mile Dam Soccer Complex.

Varsity Boys

Champion did a great job of pack running and had its five top finishers within the top 22 runners in the field of 223. Their top five all clocked in below the 17-minute mark.

The Chargers tallied 72 points for first place, Austin Bowie came in second with 99 points and Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial was third at 105 in the field of 24 teams.

Sebastian Carvallo finished eighth in 16:30 and Shawn Edwards was one spot back in ninth at 16:33, Mason Nelson posted a 16:40 for 13th, Noah Moreno came in 20th with a 16:50 and Brandon Martinez placed 22nd in 16:59 to round out the scoring five.

Colin Gibbs posted a 17:48 for 70th, Pierce Mitchell turned in a 17:54 for 74th, Luke Johnson ran an 18:05, Jacob Martinez finished in 18:49 and Brennan Williams clocked in at 19:59.

Varsity Girls

The Lady Chargers tallied 103 points for second behind meet champs New Braunfels, which finished with 43 points, while Smithson Valley was third with 125 points in the field of 20 teams and 175 runners.

Rebecca Bezerra placed in the top 3 after she was third with an 18:29, Payton Kidder came in 14th in 19:46, Emma Radtke finished 20th in 20:12, Kaylee Tierney posted a 20:32 for 30th and Luciana Zazueta Ibarra clocked in at 20:42 for 36th.

Ellis Conroy came in 73rd in 21:50, Abigail Alger turned in a 21:57 for 76th and Elena Duran ran a 22:15.
