THE BOOKWORM
Mari Mancusi, a bestselling children’s book author out of Austin, will be featured at the Boerne Book Festival at 1 p.m. on Oct. 3 in the Patrick Heath Public Library’s community room. Mancusi has written many books for children, but we’re focusing on her “New Dragon City” series. The first book in this series was on the Texas Bluebonnet Award master reading list, assembled by the Texas Library Association.
There are now three books in the series, and you can learn about them at the author’s presentation at the book festival. Mancusi will be visiting two elementary schools with us the day prior to the festival, and we’ll be getting copies of “New Dragon City” into the hands of some of those school kids.
Boerne Book Fest
There will be so many things for kids to see and do at the Oct. 3 Boerne Book Festival. The Book Fairy will once again be on hand, with activities for kids. The Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators has one of the largest tents at our festival, and many writers from San Antonio, Austin and the Hill Country will be on hand with their children’s books.
There will be children’s entertainment throughout the day on the Amphitheater stage. The “recrafted” program will take place on the patio right next to the children’s department of the library.
All the above would not be possible without our wonderful sponsors, including Frost Bank, H-EB, Friends of the Boerne Public Library and the Boerne Library Foundation, to name a few. Come join us at the Boerne Public Library from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 3.

Austin-area author Mari Mancusi will talk about her “New Dragon City” series at the Oct. 3 Boerne Book Festival.
