The Boerne High tennis team was on the road Tuesday for a district match against a solid Alamo Heights squad and the Mules were able to defeat the Greyhounds.
Alamo Heights won Tuesday’s showdown in San Antonio, 16-3, dropping Boerne to 3-1 in district and 7-4 overall. Things don’t get any easier for the Greyhounds because they’ll host Boerne Champion on Tuesday at the Greyhound courts.
In Tuesday’s match vs AH, Boerne picked up all three wins on the boys side. Gavin Cebe and Caleb Norman won at No. 1 boys doubles, Rylan Bratz and Quattro Garza picked up a victory at No. 2 boys doubles and the Hounds were down 5-2 after doubles.
Their only other win came from Garza at No. 4 boys singles.
Greyhounds head coach Tyson Stewart said the girls side came close to some wins, but the Lady Mules prevailed in those close matches.

Prior to Tuesday’s contest against the Mules, Boerne was scheduled to play Liberty Hill last Friday, but the match was called off due to weather issues with the Greyhounds leading 3-1.
After hosting Champion on Tuesday, Boerne plays Churchill on Sept. 25 in a non-district match and then closes out district action vs John Jay on Sept. 29 in San Antonio before hosting Wimberley on Oct. 2 in another non-district contest.
