Fair queen questions

Editor, I have seen your recent stories regarding the allocations the Queen’s Court and their parents have accused members of the Kendall County Fair directors.

I don’t have a side either way, except yes children should always be treated appropriately by the adults around them. But my question is why didn’t the parents of these girls pull them from the organization right away, when things were not going appropriately.

One of the things I read was that the families did address their concerns to the directors months ago, and the parents felt the girls were retaliated against, since they were not allowed to take part in many events they had planned to attend.

If what is being accused was so terrible, then why did these parents let their daughters still represent the organization?

Isn’t it a scholarship pageant? Did they still get their scholarship and is that why they didn’t pull their girls before this point?

I truly believe all children need to be treated appropriately as I said, but this organization is volunteer run and each year it is criticized for what it does and doesn’t do. As a longtime Boerne resident, I really would hate for the whole organization to end. But with all the criticism and lack of people stepping up to help keep it running, I can see it all folding and ending.
