d. Sept. 9, 2026 Michael “Mike” David Kaderli, a long-time resident of Boerne, Texas, passed away peacefully on Sept. 9, 2026, at the age of 82.
Mike was born and raised in Fredericksburg, Texas, and if you spent more than five minutes with him, he made sure you knew it. He was endlessly proud of his hometown and his days playing football and baseball for St. Mary’s Catholic School. He went on to attend both The University of Texas at Austin and Southwest Texas State University, but his real education came from decades spent on the road in corporate sales. Mike was a true road warrior and knew every winding backroad, hidden-gem restaurant, and golf course sand trap from coast to coast.
He loved sharing his favorite places so family holidays meant packing up for one of Mike’s famous “Griswold Family Vacations.” Whether it was bottoming out a gold Cadillac down the steepest street in San Francisco, sailing with Orca whales off the Washington coast, or fishing for lobster using only a toothpick and some peanut butter in Maine, a road trip with Mike was an adventure you’d never forget.
Even though he spent a lot of his days traveling, Mike didn’t relax when he got home. For several years, he co-owned the antique store “J Browning Kaderli Antiques” in Grapevine, Texas, alongside his wife. The shop specialized in early American furniture and decor, and Mike genuinely enjoyed doing most of the intricate restoration work himself.

See KADERLI, page 7 watching every game on TV. In his later years, he was happiest relaxing in his favorite recliner with his best bud and “granddog,” Thumper, by his side. He had a deep love for college football, especially his childhood favorite, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and later, the Clemson Tigers.
After years of living the big-city life in Houston and Dallas, Mike eventually found his way back home to the Texas Hill Country and moved his family to Boerne in 1992. After leaving corporate sales, he semi-retired and picked up a new career in ranch real estate While he truly enjoyed all the places he lived and traveled throughout his life, there was no place closer to his heart than the hills where he grew up. Coaching his daughter’s softball teams to victory and playing Santa in the local Christmas parade were simple small-town moments, but to Mike, they were the greatest adventures of all.
Mike leaves behind his wife of 51 years, Johnnie Kaderli, along with his daughter, Elizabeth Kaderli, and his son-inlaw, Christopher Buehler. He is also survived by his brother, Daniel Kaderli, who will continue to proudly carry the Notre Dame torch. Mike was reunited in death with his parents, Marvin and Rita, and his brother, Denis.
The family wi l l welcome friends on Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2026, from 9:30-10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Fredericksburg, Texas, with a Mass of Resurrection beginning at 10 a.m. The family will meet for a private burial and a reception will follow shortly in the Holy Family Center.
