A banged-up Boerne Champion volleyball team hosted Alamo Heights on Tuesday to close out the first round of district play.
The Lady Chargers and Lady Mules both had one loss entering the match, so Tuesday’s winner would stand in second place behind first-place Boerne High, which closed out the first round of district at 6-0 after defeating John Jay on Tuesday.
Despite being down a few starters, the Lady Chargers beat the Mules in four sets, 25-16, 30-28, 26-28, 25-22. Champion ends the first round at 5-1 in district (25-7), while the Mules are in third at 4-2. Both are chasing Boerne High at 6-0.
The Lady Chargers kicked off the second round of 26-5A action on Friday against John Jay in San Antonio. They’ll host Harlandale on Tuesday.
