THE BOOKWORM
‘Live! at the Library’ returns
Our popular live-music series took a hiatus that seemed to last forever, but it was all to improve the quality of your experience. The sound system has been fully updated, and we’re ready to start tapping our toes to the music again.
On Thursday, Oct. 15, at 7 p.m., come on out to enjoy the Texas country sounds of the Marcy Grace Band. Marcy is a dynamic singer/ songwriter making waves in the Texas Country scene.
Known for her powerful vocals, high-energy performances and standout lead guitar skills, she’s a multi-instrumentalist who plays drums, electric and acoustic guitar, and banjo.
With three Top 40 Texas radio hits, Marcy delivers a fresh, modem sound while honoring the genre’s roots.
Be sure to bring a picnic supper and comfy seating.
Annual campaign set to start
This year, the Boerne Public Library Foundation is raising funds to replace and redesign the Youth Services desk, creating a more welcoming and accessible space for the children and families who use it.
While it may seem like a simple change, the desk is where children find their next favorite book, parents learn about programs and resources, and families connect with librarians who can open the door to new worlds of learning and discovery.
The new design will improve the flow of the Youth Services area while giving staff a workspace that helps them better serve children and caregivers. A gift to the 2026 Annual Campaign is an investment in more than a physical space — it helps create a library where children feel excited to explore, parents feel supported and families know they belong.
Please consider making a tax-deductible gift. For more information, please give us a call at 830-249-3053.
Library ofrenda
For the past several years, the library has displayed an ofrenda as part of Hispanic Heritage Month, and this year will be no exception. The ofrenda, or altar, is a cherished tradition of Dia de los Muertos that provides a beautiful way to honor and remember loved ones who have passed away.
Often decorated with photographs, favorite foods, flowers, candles and meaningful personal items, an ofrenda celebrates the unique life and personality of each person being remembered.
Although our loved ones may no longer be with us, their lives, stories and impact continue to be an important part of who we are.
We invite you to participate by bringing photos of your family, friends or anyone important to you, so that we may help honor their memory. The display will be up through October.
Welcome, Megan
We are pleased to introduce our newest staff member, Megan Deguisne.
While Megan has several years’ experience working as a school library volunteer, she held a fascinating job for seven years, as a tour operator at the San Diego Zoo. We haven’t quite figured out how we can leverage that, but we will.
She says her favorite animal was the black rhino. Megan works here as a part-time library associate, and you will see her at the public desks. Be sure to say hi.
Library closure
The library will be closed on Monday, Oct. 12 for Columbus Day. We will re-open on Tuesday, Oct. 13 at 9 a.m. Please keep in mind that you can conduct much of your library business on website or on our MyLibro app.
