Eagles host Bay Area Christian in key district football game

A couple of district heavyweight football teams will meet this Friday when Geneva School of Boerne hosts Bay Area Christian in Boerne.

The Eagles and Broncos enter the contest with a combined record of 11-1. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m., at Geneva.

Geneva is 1-1 in district with wins over John Paul II, 56-7, and a loss to Brazos Christian, 49-23. The Broncos are 2-0 in district and picked up lopsided victories over Holy Cross, 56-19, and also defeated St. Francis Episcopal, 71-28.

After playing Geneva, Bay Area Christian tangles with Brazos Christian. As of this week, Bay Area Christian and Brazos Christian are 6-0, while Geneva is 5-1, so all three teams are having great seasons in 2026.

The district title will probably be decided in the next two weeks between the three schools. Geneva head coach Adam Foren said he doesn’t disagree with that statement.

“I think that’s fair to say. The kids have earned the right to compete for higher things in October. We’re right where we want to be,” he said. “You want to be in these moments because it means you have a good team and we do. We’ve earned the right to be playing in these types of games.”

Bay Area Christian has had a quirky schedule and after opening the season on the road on Aug. 21, they’ve played their last five games at home, which means they close out the season with four straight road games, starting with Friday’s contest in Boerne.

“We’ve done our share of traveling and we’re excited to host them. It’s their first road game since their opener,” Foren said. “But you have to give (Bay Area Christian) credit, they’ve taken care of business and have played well at home against the teams on their schedule.”

Foren said the Broncos like to run the ball but will put it in the air as well.

“They’re big up front and they run the ball well. It starts and ends with their run game,” he said. “They have one of the top running backs in the league, and they have an athletic quarterback; they’re do-it-all guys. They’ll throw deep, but it’s all set up by their run game.”

The Eagles are coming off a bye week, so they’ve had two weeks to prepare for Bay Area Christian. After Friday, the Eagles are at New Braunfels Christian Academy, host Holy Cross on Oct. 23 and then close out the regular season at St. Francis Episcopal on Oct. 30.
