The Boerne Champion volleyball team began the second round of district play Friday on the road in San Antonio against John Jay.
Friday’s second-round match between the Lady Chargers and Lady Mustangs ended just like their first-round meeting, with Champion winning in straight sets.
The Lady Chargers defeated the Mustangs, 25-16, 25-13, 25-20, and improved to 6-1 in district and 26-7 overall. Champion is home on Tuesday to host Harlandale. They are off Friday and host South San next Tuesday.
Hannah Perez led the Chargers with 12 kills on Friday, while Brielle Boothe added 9 kills and Brady Cooksey had 8 kills.
Champion served up 15 aces after Aleah Ramirez and Cooksey both tallied 4 aces, Boothe dropped in 3 aces and Hailey Pfahlert had 2 aces.
Cooksey also recorded 2 blocks and finished with 21 assists, while Pfahlert totaled 12 assists and Perez came up with 7 digs.
Boothe and Cooksey also chipped in with 5 digs each.
