Lady Chargers beat McCollum, played Boerne High on Tuesday

It’s a big week for the Boerne Champion volleyball week.

The Chargers defeated McCollum at home last Friday and have clinched a playoff spot, but how they do in two matches this week will determine whether the Chargers finish first, second or third in the final 26-5A standings.

The Chargers control their own destiny and wins on Tuesday against Boerne High and on Friday at Alamo Heights would give Champion this year’s district title. If they drop one or both, they could end up second or third.

Champion is 9-1 in district, Boerne High is 9-1 after Alamo Heights did the Chargers a favor and beat the Greyhounds last Friday, while the Mules are 9-2.

The Chargers (29-7) won last Friday’s home match over McCollum, 25-22, 23-25, 25-23, 25-19.

Hannah Perez finished with 23 kills and Brielle Boothe had 21 kills, Shay Brothers dropped in 2 aces, four players came up with one block, while Boothe and Brady Cooksey both tallied 19 digs. Perez recorded 18 digs and Cooksey registered 46 assists.
