Comfort High wrapped up district volleyball action Tuesday night at home by hosting their main rival, Blanco.
The Lady Panthers defeated the Comfort Deer in four sets, 25-22, 28-26, 21-25, 25-10. CHS closes out district play at 4-4 (2019 overall).
Comfort is off on Friday and is scheduled to begin postseason play next week.
District play in 2026 for the Deer was a matter of sweeps. Comfort swept Florence and Llano and was swept by Ingram Moore and Blanco. Ingram finished first and has the district title wrapped up at 7-0 as they headed into the regular-season finale on Friday.
Comfort is trying to schedule a warm-up match at Junction on Tuesday, but nothing was set when the Star went to press.
It looks like the Deer will go into the playoffs as a DII or small school but aren’t sure who they would play in the first round. It depends on what happens Friday to close out district play.
If Blanco beats Llano, it forces a fourth-place tiebreaker game between Llano and Florence. If Llano wins that potential match against Florence, Comfort plays Stockdale in the first round, and if Florence wins, Comfort will play Karnes City to begin the postseason.
