Geneva runners wrap up XC season at TAPPS state meet

Geneva School of Boerne sent a full boys team and three individual runners on the girls side to this year’s TAPPS state cross country meet in Waco on Monday. Each TAPPS school is allowed to send seven runners on the girls and boys side to race at state since there is no district or regional meets.

Varsity Girls

On the girls side, Geneva sophomore Peyton Eiland finished 10th in the 4A two-mile race with a time of 13:13.5 and was named all-state since the top 10 finishers in that race earned that distinction.

Freshman Maggie Lutz clocked in at 15:03 for 42nd and senior Catalina Lozada posted a 16:12.4 for 76th in the field of 100 runners and 17 teams.

Dallas Covenant won state with 46 points, Castle Hills came in second at 119 and New Braunfels Christian was third with 168 points.

Varsity Boys

Geneva came in 13th in the boys 4A race with 357 points.

Dallas Covenant won the state title with 63 points, Lubbock Trinity Christian came in second at 124 and Midland Classical was third at 125, just ahead of fourth-place Vanguard College Preparatory that finished fourth at 126 in the field of 22 teams.

Ryder Buckelew led the Eagles after he was 62nd in 20:03.7 in the 5K race, Quinn Malkowski came in 76th with a 20:23.0, Evan Taylor was one spot back in 77th with a 20:23.1, Liam McClain finished in 20:32.4 for 81st, Nico Nelson ran a 21:17.1 for 93rd, Lucas Lozada clocked in at 21:58.2 for 117th and Aaron Garza-Rivera finished in 23:29.6 for 150th.
