Before the start of the game, Chargers coach Chris Adamek was recognized after he recently recorded the 400th win of his coaching career.

Well, the Champion boys added another victory to Adamek’s total after they trounced Tivy, 55-34.

The No. 6 stateranked Chargers (TABC) improved to 20-1 overall and 2-0 in 26-5A. They continued league play Friday at Pieper.

Champion had a fast start and was up 9-0 in the first three minutes of the game before pulling ahead 14-2 midway through the first quarter. The opening period ended with the Chargers leading 17-6.

Both teams slowed down in the second quarter, but the Chargers still outscored the Antlers, 9-6, for the 26-12 halftime lead.

Things didn’t change much in the second half as Champion won the third quarter, 18-12, for the 44-24 advantage.

From there, the teams traded buckets in the fourth quarter, but the Chargers tallied more points, 11-10, to get the 21-point win.

Champion knocked down eight 3-pointers in the game, two each from Braden Baum, Charlie Georgelos and Mason Wyatt, while Quinn Grable and Briggs Jones drained one a piece.

Baum finished with 12 points, Dakarai Hodge and Georgelos both tallied 11 points, Wyatt and Grable netted 7 points each, Baeden Burdick had 4 points and Jones scored 3.

Baum and Hodge collected 8 rebounds apiece, Georgelos snagged 7 boards and Wyatt 5, while Grable and Georgelos dished out 4 assists each.
