Geneva baseball records another shutout win

The Geneva School of Boerne baseball team recorded its second straight shutout on Tuesday when the Eagles defeated Schertz John Paul II in a district contest, 6-0.

The Geneva School of Boerne baseball team recorded its second straight shutout on Tuesday when the Eagles defeated Schertz John Paul II in a district contest, 6-0.

Prior to that, Geneva beat the Central Catholic JV last week in a non-district game. With consecutive shutouts under its belt, the Eagles improve to 21-2 overall. They play the San Antonio Wolverines on Thursday.

Geneva took the early lead in Tuesday’s contest and scored 2 runs in its first at bat. They added another in the third for the 3-0 lead.

The Eagles closed out the game with a solid seventh frame and pushed in 3 more insurance runs to make it 6-0. With one out, Geneva hit two singles and a double to bring in two of the runs. Guy George was at second and stole third. From there, he scored on a ground out to cap the Geneva scoring in vthe game.

JP II only managed 3 hits in the game, all singles in the bottom of the fourth, but didn’t score. With bases loaded and two outs thanks to a double play, Geneva pitcher Jake Roberson struck out the next batter he faced on three pitches.

Guy George doubled and singled, scored 3 runs, walked and picked up an RBI, C Lutz drove in a run, Guy Kohler picked up 2 RBI, Cannon Menn singled and picked up an RBI, George Viña singled, Shawn George singled and scored, while Roberson helped his cause with 2 singles, an RBI and a run scored.

Roberson went 6 innings to get the win and threw 87 pitches. He gave up the 3 hits, 2 walks, no runs and struck out 9.

Guy George finished out the game in the seventh and didn’t give up a hit or a run, walked 2 and fanned 3.
