Geneva School of Boerne faced its toughest test of the year so far when the Eagles football team visited always tough Blanco.

Geneva battled with the Panthers but Blanco went on to record a 57-35 win over the Eagles.

Geneva drops to 2-2 this season and is at home Friday to host Shiner St. Paul Catholic.

The Eagles only have three district games so they have to play seven non-district games this year.

Blanco led 20-14 at the end of the first quarter and then took a 36-21 lead into halftime after they outscored the Eagles in the second stanza, 16-7.

Blanco started to pull away in the third period when they tacked on three more touchdowns to open up a 57-21 advantage.

To Geneva’s credit, the Eagles played tough to the end and finished the game with two fourth-quarter touchdowns and didn’t give up a score in the final stanza.

After Friday’s game with Shiner St. Paul, the Eagles play Milano and then Brentwood Christian to close out non-district.

They open league play Oct. 20 at Corpus Christi John Paul II, play at Schertz John Paul II and then close out the regular season at home Nov. 3 against Holy Cross.
