Champion boys handle Hurricanes, 55-43

Boerne Champion visited Sam Houston Tuesday and recorded the 55-43 win over the Hurricanes in non-district boys basketball.

Champion improves to 12-3 overall and played Holmes Friday at Northside. After that, the Chargers are off until Friday when they host Sotomayor at 6:30 p.m.

Champion hit in double digits to start the game and was up 16-9 at the end of the first quarter. The Chargers were outscored in the second at 13-9 but still took a one-point lead into halftime 25-24.

Champion won the third quarter 15-9 and opened up a 40-33 lead. The Chargers closed it out by taking the final quarter, 15-10.

Quinn Grable led Champion with 19 points after he was 4 for 8 from the 3-point line and 7 for 10 at the free-throw line.

Charlie Georgelos made it a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds, Briggs Jones scored 9 points and pulled down 8 board, Louis Hudspeth and Baeden Burdick both netted 3, while Kristian Herrera, Logan Scott and Mason Wyatt all chipped in with 2 points. Burdick also had two assists for the Chargers.
