Boerne Champion hosted Wagner to kick off 26-5A action Tuesday night at Charger Gym.
The Lady Thunderbirds went on to record the 81- 37 win over Champion.
The Chargers are 5-12 overall and start district at 0-1. They continued 26-5A play Friday at Veterans Memorial and then host New Braunfels Canyon Monday in Boerne at 11:30 a.m.
Champion had a good start in Tuesday’s game and was in double figures with 11 but Wagner had an even better start and tallied 21 for the 10-point lead by the end of the period.
The Thunderbirds kept up the scoring pace in the second and dropped in 20, while holding the Chargers to 5 for the 41-16 halftime lead.
Wagner made it three straight quarters with at least 20 points after they netted 22 in the third, while Champion had its best scoring period of the night with 14 points to give the Thunderbirds the 63- 30 advantage going into the final stanza.
Wagner closed it out by taking the fourth quarter, 18-7, to seal the victory.
Adriana Barreiro led the Chargers in scoring with 10 points, Hailey Winn finished with 8, Addison Darter drained a pair of 3s for 6 points, Kayla Ramirez and Abby Sommer dropped in 5 points apiece and Bralyn Gault tallied 3 points.
