The Boerne High girls soccer team didn’t have the kind of home debut they were hoping for Friday when they hosted Davenport at Champion to open district action.
BHS had a 1-0 lead but the Lady Wolves tallied the final two goals of the match for the 2-1 win.
After 12 matches on the road, this was Boerne’s first match at their home away from home this year, Charger Field.
Boerne suffered its first loss to slip to 1-1 in District 26-4A play.
The Lady Greyhounds are 11-1-1 overall and visited Bandera Tuesday before hosting Canyon Lake Friday at Champion.
In the first half of Friday’s match, Bella Pettet sent a cross pass in front of the Davenport goal that Sophia Namvar was able to finish to give Boerne the 1-0 lead with 8:31 left before halftime.
It stayed that way until the middle of the second half when the Lady Wolves were able to tie it on an own goal. Davenport booted a corner kick and a Boerne player accidentally headed it into the Greyhound net to make it 1-1 with 22:19 remaining.
The Lady Wolves finished with a late goal to hold its first and only lead of the match.
