Greyhounds go 2-2 at baseball tournament, beat SA HomeSchool

The Boerne High baseball team was entered in the Northside ISD Tournament and played four games at the event. Boerne also hosted S.A. HomeSchool Tuesday.

BHS went 2-2 at the event and beat HomeSchool to stand at 4-2 this year. They’re playing in the S.A. Baseball Classic tourney this week.

Vs. S.A. HomeSchool

The Hounds handled S.A. HomeSchool, 10-0, in four and a half innings and scored in all four at bats, with 5 of those runs coming in the second.

Hutson Hendrix and Dylan Perez both knocked out 2 hits, with Perez legging out a double and a single. Walker Hill and Jace Grimes both recorded hits with Grimes also banging out a double.

Hendrix, J Perez and Grimes all scored twice, while six different players knocked in runs.

Thomas Puckett went 3 innings on the bump, while Braden Ramirez and Colton Chaver tossed one frame each. Puckett gave up the only hit of the game as the three combined for the shutout and struck out 6 total.

NISD tourney

Boerne High opened with an 8-4 win over Stevens. Dylan Perez tripled and doubled, while Hudson McNew, Jace Preston and Reese House all doubled. Perez also scored 3 runs.

Thomas Puckett picked up the win after going 5 innings and McNew earned the save.

The Hounds also mauled Marshall, 14-1, behind 10 hits in just 2 innings of work.

Dylan Perez stayed hot and drove in 4 runs on a double and a single. Jace Preston and Hudson McNew also picked up 2 hits each.

Tanner Tuschinski picked up the win in 2 innings on just 39 pitches. He didn’t allow a hit, walked 3 and fanned 1.

New Braunfels Canyon handed the Hounds a 4-2 loss. It was tied 2-2 after 2, but the Cougars scored single runs in the third and fifth frames.

Dylan Perez, Hudson McNew and Ronnie Scarbrough all had 1 hit each with Walker Hill and Grant Tamplet scoring runs.

Campbell Jackson and Jackson Grimes went 3 innings each with Grimes striking out 5 and Jackson fanning 3.

Boerne’s other loss was also to a 5A school, Smithson Valley, 6-4. The Rangers jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first and never trailed.

BHS tied it at 3-3 in the top of the third but SV answered with 2 runs in the third and another in the fourth. The Hounds added their other run in the fourth.

Hudson McNew had a strong game at the plate and recorded 3 of their 5 hits. He also scored 2 runs and Grant Tamplet had their other 2 hits.

Dylan Perez, Grimes and Tanner Tuschinski all tossed in the game.
