Geneva School of Boerne led from start to finish during Tuesday’s district baseball game against Corpus Christi Incarnate Word.
A fast start and strong pitching helped the Eagles win the contest 8-2.
Geneva is 11-4 overall and played Holy Cross Thursday.
The Eagles held the early lead with 3 runs in the first and that would have been enough since the defense only surrendered 2 runs all game, but Geneva added 3 more runs in the third to make it 6-1 after the Angels score once in the top of the third.
The Corpus Christi school added another run in the fourth and the lead was down to 6-2 but Geneva pushed in 2 more runs in the bottom of the sixth for the 8-2 lead.
After the Angels didn’t score in the top of the seventh, the Eagles didn’t need to bat in the seventh since they held the lead and were the home team.
Geneva finished with 7 hits Tuesday, including a triple from Cannon Menn, who also singled, took 2 walks and scored 2 runs.
Shawn George hit 2 singles and pushed in a run, while Rooster Jons, Colton Lutz and TJ Cross all knocked out 1 hit apiece.
