Both Boerne ISD varsity tennis teams were in action last weekend.
The Chargers made the drive to the Houston area to compete in the Kemah Boardwalk Invitational, while the Greyhounds were right up the road in Fredericksburg in the Hill Country Championships.
Both teams are back on the court this coming week at the Boerne ISD tournament at Champion and Boerne High.
Boerne Champion
The Chargers only had one entry place in the top 10 at the Kemah tournament.
Amber Lewis and Charles Henderson placed 10th in mixed doubles for the team’s highest finish.
Champion coach Joey Cantu said the tournament was loaded with top teams.
“This is probably one of the best tournaments I’ve ever been to,” he said.
Boerne High
The Greyhounds had four entries earn medals at Fred — two gold, one silver and one bronze — and the result helped BHS earn the team championship at the Fredericksburg tourney for the second year in a row.
Ben Rowe and Nick Dube placed first in boys doubles and Owen Labay was first in boys singles, while Justin Barraza was second in boys singles.
On the girls side, the doubles team of Jacqueline Kornet and Georgia Stokes earned bronzed after they were third.
