The Champion baseball team dropped its second district game in a row after they were run ruled by Pieper Tuesday in six innings, 13-3.
Champion is 19-6 overall and 7-2 in district. The Chargers hosted Pieper Friday to close out their series.
Tuesday’s game was tight through five innings and tied at 3-3 but the game got away from Champion in the final two innings.
Pieper closed out the contest by scoring 6 runs in the fifth for the 9-3 lead. They added 4 more runs in the sixth to end it via the mercy rule.
The Warriors outhit the Chargers 14-7 despite a great day at the plate from Owen Kuhl, who hit a 2 RBI homer in the fourth inning to tie it. Kuhl also doubled in the second frame and finished with 2 RBI and a run scored.
Quinn Grable doubled in the fourth to bring in Champion’s first run and he also scored on the Kuhl home run.
Jordan Ballin, Evan Kuhl, Garland Whitehead and Cam Logan all singled in the game as well.
Sawyer Smith went 4.2 innings on the hill and gave up 8 hits, while striking out 2.
Aidan Smith finished out the contest and recorded the final 2 outs.
