Boerne Champion's Leachman qualifies for Olympics trials

Boerne Champion's Leachman qualifies for Olympics trials

It's official - Boerne Champion runner Elizabeth Leachman has qualified for the Olympic trials that will take place in Oregon next week. Leachman will race in the 5K and is the only high school runner in the field of 30.

The 16-year-old Leachman who just finished her sophomore season at Champion competes Friday June 21, at 8:22 p.m. in the preliminaries. If she qualifies for the finals, she’ll race Monday at 9:09 p.m.

Leachman punched her ticket to the trails after her performance at the Texas Relays in late March where she beat a college field with a time of 15:25.27. The time held up and now she'll race for a shot to be on the U.S. Olympic team.
