The Champion volleyball team had a strong showing at the Abilene Bev Ball Classic. They finished third in the field of 30 teams.
Champion went 6-1 at the tourney and Ella Coleman was named to the All-Tournament team. On the first day, the Chargers beat Abilene 27-25, 21-25, 25-16, and then defeated Brownwood, 25-13, 25-21.
Up next, the Chargers swept Pantego Christian, 25-15, 25-13, and also took care of Coronado in two sets, 25-21, 25-19.
Champion didn’t suffer its first loss until its fifth match when they fell to Eastwood in the semifinals in three sets. That put them in the third-place match where they defeated Midland, 25-13, 25-22.
The Lady Chargers are 7-1 overall and played Brennan Tuesday at Harlan. Champion is entered in the Pieper Warrior Tournament this weekend.
