Ava Rose Singleton Evans, age 103, of Boerne passed away on Feb. 1, 2019. She was born to Robert and Nell Broyles Singleton in San Saba County on July 31, 1915.

Ava attended school in Cherokee and graduated from South West Texas Teachers College (now Texas State University) in San Marcos in December 1938. She met and married Earl Dan Evans of San Marcos in December 1937. Earl preceded her in death in April 2000.

Ava retired from teaching at Locke Hill Elementary School in the San Antonio Northside School District in 1971. Earl retired in 1980 and they moved to Boerne. They were members of First United Methodist Church and the Rainbow Senior Center.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, her brother, R. Glenn Singleton, her sister Joyce Singleton Koonce and two of her sons-in-law V. Stanley Marett and Bruce G. Ingram.

Survivors are her three daughters Gloria Ingram of New Braunfels, Linda Marett of Kerrville and Edith and husband Ronald Burkey of Boerne; six grandchildren Elizabeth and Brent Tuttle, Bruce and Brandie Ingram, Jr., Sue and Howard Bushong, Earl and Christa Ingram, Jennifer and Duane Nagel and Russell and Lindsay Burkey; great-grandchildren Tanner (Karly) Kothmann, Derek (Lauren) Kothmann, Lauren Tuttle, Charles Will (Cami) Tuttle, Erica (John) Dirba, Alexandria and Rebecca Ingram, Justin (Kylene) Leinneweber, Lindsey (Eric) Bernhagen, Dan Earl and Emma Ingram, Natalie and Alyssa Nagel, Reese, Riley and Reagan Burkey.

Great-great-grandchildren are Bella, Asher, Thomas and Benjamin Kothmann, Logan Tuttle, Ellie and Kenna Dirba and Blakely and Brody Bernhagen.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 9, at 11 a..m at First United Methodist Church, 205 James St. Boerne, followed by a graveside service at 2 p.m. at Mission Burial Park North, 20900 I-10 West San Antonio.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Boerne, Rainbow Senior Center or to the charity of your choice.
