First families of Kendall County to be recognized

On Saturday, Sept. 24, the Genealogical Society of Kendall County will conduct a celebration of the founders and early settlers of Kendall County. It will be held at St. John Lutheran Church Family Life Center at 315 Rosewood Ave. in Boerne. Doors open at 10 a.m. and the celebration begins at 10:30 a.m. and lasts about an hour.

A light lunch and music will follow. The public is invited.

The purpose is to recognize the founders and early settlers of Kendall County and to preserve the history of their families and the county, information from the local genealogical society stated. Founders are those who settled, before the end of 1862, in the area encompassed by present-day Kendall County. Early settlers are those who arrived from then until the end of 1900.
