During November, Boerne will have one of the 5,000 drop-off locations collecting shoeboxes filled with gifts for children around the world during Operation Christmas Child. The project of Samaritan’s Purse, an international Christian relief and evangelism organization, is headed by Franklin Graham. The Samaritan’s Purse project partners with local churches across the globe to deliver gifts to children. For many it will be the first gift they have ever received. The year the Boerne Operation Christmas Child Shoebox drop-off will be at St. John Lutheran Church, 315 Rosewood Ave. in Boerne. The filled boxes may be taken to the church on Monday, Nov. 18, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, hours are 1:30 to 5 p.m., and Wednesday, Nov. 20, between 8:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Hours for Thursday, Nov. 21, are 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.; for Friday, Nov. 22, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturday, Nov. 23, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. On Sunday, Nov. 24, the shoeboxes may be taken between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. The last day to drop off a shoebox is Monday, Nov. 25, between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m.
