The Fair Oaks Ranch Rotary Club is hosting a special veterans salute on Wednesday, Nov. 13, at 11:45 a.m. at the Fair Oaks Ranch Country Club. Guest speaker retired Army Major General James M. “Mike” Lyle will address members and their guests in a tribute to veterans and their spouses.
Posting of the colors will be performed by the Texas Color Guard Cadets from TMI Episcopal School.
Lyle served 34 years in the Army, including two tours of duty in Vietnam where he was awarded a Purple Heart. He progressed through 25 military assignments, and in his last role before retirement in 1996, he was commander of the U.S. Army Cadet Command.
After retiring, he served nine years as superintendent of the New York Military Academy. He and his wife, Carol, moved to Fair Oaks Ranch in 2005.
Besides recognizing the many military veterans who are members of the Rotary Club, the event also will recognize two Fair Oaks Ranch residents who are veterans of World War II, along with their spouses, Commander R.W. Pratt and Corporal D.G. “Mac” McWilliams.
