Geneva football players earn postseason awards

State finalist Geneva School of Boerne had several football players earn Texas Association of Private and Parochial School (TAPPS) end of season awards.

A total of 14 Eagles players received TAPPS All-State recognition.

Nine were first-team all-state selections after Daniel Grover was a first-team defensive lineman, Scott Standerfer was a first-team defensive lineman, Joseph Hohne was a first-team linebacker, Joshua Lopez was a first-team linebacker, Ethan Houser was a first-team defensive secondary and wide receiver, Austin Dennis was a first-team punter and kicker, Seth Bower was a first-team offensive lineman, Devon Ahrens was a first-team offensive back and Joel Calderon was a first-team wide receiver.

Ben Ross was a second-team all-state offensive lineman, while honor mention all-state picks for Geneva included defensive lineman William Cone, defensive secondary Joel Calderon, offensive receiver Ethan Myrick and utility athlete Cade Barone.

A total of 15 Eagles were first-team all-district selections after Scott Standerfer was a first-team defensive lineman, Daniel Grover was a first-team defensive lineman, William Cone was a first-team defensive lineman, Joshua Lopez was a first-team defensive linebacker, Joseph Hohne was a first-team defensive linebacker, Matthew Schroder was a first-team defensive linebacker, Ethan Houser was a first-team defensive secondary and wide receiver, Joel Calderon was a first-team defensive secondary and offensive receiver, Nathan Young was first-team defensive secondary, Austin Dennis was first-team punter and kicker, Seth Bower was a first-team offensive lineman, Ben Ross was a first-team offensive lineman, Devon Ahrens was a first-team offensive back, Easton Myrick was a first-team wide receiver and Cade Barone was a first-team utility athlete.

Second-team all-district picks for the Eagles were defensive lineman Ben Ross, defensive linebacker Ethan Myrick, offensive lineman Kade Nicholls, offensive lineman John Henry Friesenhahn and offensive back Brock Ambelang.
