John Dale Pritchett passed away Thursday, Dec. 27, 2018, at the age of 78. John was born to Fredric Thomas Pritchett and Ethel Muriel Counts Pritchett on June 13, 1940 in Elvins, Missouri. John loved hunting and fishing but spent most of his time working in the hay fields along with his brothers. He attended Burch Community School, a one-room schoolhouse in Farmington, Missouri. It was there that he met the love of his life, Mary Lu Raby.

John went to work locally at the state hospital until he entered the US Air Force in January 1960. He and Mary were married in June of 1960. They were stationed in multiple states and John later served in Vietnam, Thailand and Korea until his retirement in 1981. He was a member and Deacon of First Baptist Church of Boerne as well as a member of the VFW Post 688.

John was preceded in death by his parents; his three brother, Dick, Jack and Bill; and his sister Norma. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Lu; his three sons Jeff Pritchett (Pam) of Kingsbury, , Greg Pritchett (Jennie) of Cuero and Ron Pritchett (Bonnie) of Boerne; grandchildren Mac McClung, Katie Guebara, Shelby Pritchett, Ashlie Pritchett, Owen Sankey and Charlotte Sankey.

A visitation was held Monday, Dec. 31, at Ebensberger-Fisher Funeral Home. The funeral service will take place on Tuesday, Jan. 1, at the First Baptist Church of Boerne at 10:30 a.m. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please donate to VFW Post 688 at PO Box 688, Boerne, TX 78006.
