The Boerne Community Theatre is showcasing “An Evening of Culture” on stage.
Don’t be put off by the title as there is nothing too hifalutin’ about this latest BCT production. Directed by Jerry Watson, the play tells the very funny story about Mineola County and its effort to bring “culture” to the community. However, its well-intended production of Romeo and Juliet goes awry from the start as the set is not done, no one knows their lines, it’s badly miscast, and there is a dog barking offstage.
The “stage” is a high school gym with the floor painted for the basketball court. The cast includes Keisha McFerrin, Dara Stringer, Colt Bray, Kimberly Stoner, Tim Stoner, Pamela Sharkey, Taylor Walston and Martin Vidal. Sheree Stevens is assistant director. Backstage crew includes Jennifer Goetz, Andrew Stoner, Komal Bhatt and Amber Lerma.
Tickets are $15 to $22 and can be reserved online at www.boernetheatre.org or by calling the box office at 830-249-9166. The show runs weekends through July 27.
