Eleanore Louise Rucker
Eleanore Louise (Nawrocki) Rucker, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, in Boerne, Texas, at the grand age of 100.
Fondly known as “Mom” and “Granny” by her children and grandchildren, she will be remembered as a loving, caring and self-sacrificing person who considered her greatest calling to be that of a mother. She served as a shining example of what love and devotion to God and family should be.
She is greatly missed by her children, their spouses and grandchildren, but all recognize that her time to be with Jesus had come and all are grateful for having her with them as long as they did.
Eleanore was born in Chicago, Illinois, to John Joseph and Emmy Nawrocki, and had two sisters, Mary Ann Naylor and Aurella Franklin, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She considered being a mother her greatest joy, and throughout the years when her grandchildren were on summer breaks from school, she delighted in having them all stay with her at one time so they could enjoy being with one another. She never considered her responses to what was needed as sacrifices but instead as a natural outpouring of love, freely given. She served as a true example of Christian love and devotion and will be remembered as such by her children and grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held in the spring.
Eleanore is survived by her children, Charlotte (Michael) Berry, Stephen James (Barbara) Rucker and Marilyn (Kevin) O’Neill; her grandchildren, Douglas (Kara) Berry, Catherine Louise (Erik) Palmer, William Berry, Stephen Brent (Leslie) Rucker, Robin Rucker and Colin Patrick (Dawn) O’Neill; and her great-grandchildren, Ryan, Megan and Ben Berry, Olivia and Ryan Palmer, Emma Grace, Sophia Anah and Henry Charles Rucker and Christopher Paul O’Neill.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, James Charles Rucker; her son, Robert James; and her grandson, Christopher James Berry.
