Elsa Anita Guerrero

October 5, 1969 – October 7, 2020

Elsa Anita Guerrero, 51, of Kerrville, Texas, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, October 7, 2020. The family received guests for a time of visitation from 1 to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 14, 2020, at Holt & Holt Funeral Home of Boerne, with a celebration of Elsa’s life immediately following.

Elsa Anita Vargas was born on October 5, 1969, to Dolores Alvarez Vargas and Emilio T. Vargas in Cleburne, Texas. Elsa was the youngest of Dolores’s four children. She had two older brothers, Frank and John Cantu, and an older sister, Mary Vargas. Elsa had four children of her own, two sons and two daughters, just like her mother. She was, both by nature and profession, a caretaker and the neighborhood mom to all her children’s friends. She was fond of her cats and loved spending time with friends and family. Elsa never met a stranger and was always quick to lend a helping hand when able.

Elsa is survived by her children, Alicia R. Vargas, John A. Guerrero, Stephen A. Guerrero and Marisol L. Vargas; her grandchildren, Ayden, Vincent, Ava and Isaiah; her brother, John J. Cantu (Gloria); her sister-in-law, Betty Cantu; her nieces and nephews, John Hernandez (Lupita), Frank Cantu Jr. (Crystal), Veronica Tamez (Steven), Amanda Hernandez (Jacqualyn) and Michael Cantu; as well as multiple great-nieces and great-nephews.

Elsa was preceded in death by her father, Emilio T. Vargas; her mother, Dolores A. Vargas; her brother, Frank A. Cantu; her sister, Mary F. Vargas; and her nephew, Daniel M. Cantu.

The family would like to thank case manager Kim Place and the nursing staff at Stone Oak Methodist Hospital for their compassionate care.
