Frederick Von Behrenfeld

Frederick Von Behrenfeld went to be with our Lord on June 18, 2021, while being cared for by his family at home from the effects of cancer.

Fred, as he was known to most, is survived by his wife of 30 years, Cindy; his son, Samuel; sister Susan and brother-in-law Richard; brother-in-law Greg and wife Katie; numerous nieces and nephews; and extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Dollye Brown Behrenfeld; and his sister, Georgann.

Fred was born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The family is very proud of the fact that he was the youngest BSA Eagle Scout in the state of Oklahoma at the age of 14 in 1967. He went on to graduate with a degree in mechanical engineering from Oklahoma State University in 1976. He then went on to excel in the mechanical construction industry and most recently was part owner of EZ Mechanical Inc. in San Antonio, Texas.

Fred was a strong Christian, God-fearing man who was known to all as loving, kind, brilliant and a source of joy and laughter. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, golfer, reader of fiction and non-fiction and a historian. Because of his vast reading and studies, combined with his recollect, he was a champion at family gatherings that included playing Trivial Pursuit. If Fred was on your team, you were destined to win.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 17, 2021, at 1 p.m. in the West Auditorium of Oak Hills Church at 1858 Interstate 10 West, San Antonio, Texas. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the St. Jude Foundation at
