Hansgeorg “Georg” Kraus, 83, of Boerne passed away on July 7, 2020, with his family by his side.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, Aug. 8, at 11 a.m. at Holt & Holt Funeral Home of Boerne

Georg was born on June 1, 1937, in Doberlug, Germany, and moved to Texas in 1957. He returned to Germany in 1959 during the Berlin crisis. In 1962 he married Barbara and returned to Texas. They were married for 58 years and together they had a son and daughter.

He was a happy spirited soul and loved spending time with his family and friends. He loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, bowling, making homemade sausage, playing accordion and listening and dancing to German and Czech music. He was an American Legion Honor Guard.

He is survived by his wife Barbara, his brother Axel and wife Barbel of Germany; his son Ruediger and wife Danielle of Carlsbad, New Mexico; his daughter Heidi and husband Jerome Majek of San Antonio; as well as grandchildren Karl Kraus and wife Tiffany, Krysta Majek, Kathrin and husband Travis Smith, Lauren and husband Kendall Smith, Melanie Majek; and a great-grandson Liam Kraus. He was preceded in death by his parents, Karl and Kathe Kraus.
