June Rose Barreras

June Rose Barreras

June Rose Barreras of Fair Oaks Ranch, Texas, passed away at 3:40 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 29, 2022. She was surrounded by her daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, niece and best friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank and eldest daughter, Eileen.

June was born in Chicago, Illinois, in 1932 to the late Charles and Violet White. She graduated from Mount St. Gertrude High School in June 1950 and in July married the love of her life, Frank Barreras. Together they would start many family traditions.

June was a stay-at-home mom, raising her five daughters. She showered them with so much love. She cooked and cleaned and often made their clothes for them when they were young. She was an amazing baker and always had delicious cakes, pies, cookies and apple dumplings for family and friends. Her spiced peach jelly even won awards.

June loved all of the adventures Frank took her on. They liked traveling, motorcycle rides, river rafting, boating, seeing the country in their RV and going on long cruises. She also loved family camping and fishing trips. Her hobbies were reading, playing cards and Mexican Train and she loved gardening.

June is survived by her loving daughters, Jeannette Schwandt (Mike), Carol Barreras, Susanna Kelley and Judith Barreras (Robynn); nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; as well as her sister, Beatrice White; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Stephenson; and several nieces and nephews.

June will always be remembered for the deep love she had for her family and friends, the absolute love and belief of her God, her gentle personality and kindness, her zest for life, her strength and the true love between her and Frank.

In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation to the American Heart Association or charity of your choice.

Memorial Mass will be held on March 4, 2022, at 12 p.m. at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Boerne, Texas.
