Lila Clanton Cross was born on July 21, 1933 in Conroe, Texas to George and Genie Clanton. She passed from this life, in Keene, TX to her Heavenly home on January 1, 2023. Lila was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ed Cross. She is survived by her brother, Gerald Clanton (Flo); sister, Alma Montgomery; sons, Rob Peters (Lorri), Edward A. Cross II (Nancy); daughter, Susan Cross (Dennis Vigil); grandchildren, Doug Peters (Tiffany), Jeff Peters (Virginia), Cortney Barber (Brant), Blaine Sweeney (Michelle), Ted Cross (Naomi Sosner), Charlie Cross, Daniel and David Vigil; great-grandchildren, Lexie, Tucker, Kannon, Greer, Margot, Bennett, Cross
Kaylee, Hunter, Brayson, Curtis; greatgreat grandchildren, Ollie and Brynnlee. After playing the piano, French horn and every Girls’ sport in school, Lila graduated from Conroe H.S. ½ point shy of being Valedictorian. She followed her love for music through Sam Houston State Teachers College, where she graduated with a Music Degree. Lila taught all levels of music throughout her career. After almost 2 decades of teaching music, she decided to get her Masters Degree in Library Science and became an over-qualified Librarian in the Spring Branch ISD, but being a Born-Again Believer, she was always involved in music at their local churches.
