Shirley Dillingham died September 21, 2020, leaving her husband of 61 years, Frank Dillingham, and her daughter of 56 years, Naylene Dillingham.
Anyone who knew Shirley knew of her love of family, friends and faith. She lived her faith daily. She loved whole-heartedly. Shirley loved to play the piano. She played for church and Sunday school as a teen growing up in Anahuac, Texas. Later, after marrying Frank, she played for the Presbyterian Church and Key To The Hills Bible Church in Boerne, Texas, where she and Frank lived for 60 years, still newcomers.
Her talents were many. As a seamstress, Shirley sewed anything from couture patterns to baby clothes and Barbie dresses. Always one to help others, she sewed clothes for the Hill Country Pregnancy Center, for beloved friends and fairy Godchildren.
Shirley’s wedding cakes were enjoyed by many – Cackie and Charlotte come to mind. If you were good you got a special birthday cake – Naylene tried to generally be good for her special red velvet cake. Not only could she bake, she was a fine cook. One never turned down a meal invitation at the Dillinghams.
While Shirley is recognized for her many gifts and talents, perhaps she was best known for her laugh. To hear it, whether you knew her or not, was to be uplifted. Her laugh was instantly recognizable, and she laughed often.
She blessed us all with her deep love, faithfulness and, of course, her beautiful, wonderful laugh.
